History of Grandfather Choi Chiwit
Naman Choi Chiwit's oil is made from a mix of 50 types of traditional herbs and spices imported locally and internationally. It is carefully processed in stages using specific methods. The product is classified as a modern traditional product, and has established its name in international markets such as Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore since its inception. This Choi Chiwit oil is founded by Haji Ashari Bin Sharif Bin Taha Bin Deramat. He was born in 1927 in Thailand, and then traveled with his father to Malaysia and settled in Sauk, Perak. Choi Chiwit's name was Tok Sharif's original idea, but it was not commercialized. He took the initiative to revise these ideas and recipes and started his business around 1960. Naman Choi Chiwit was promoted and introduced in Sauk, from house to house through midwives and masseurs, as well as through ceremonies such as weddings and deaths. With his permission the business expanded to the states of Kedah and Johor (Batu Pahat) and continued to be known to succeed in engraving Brunei Darussalam. He was a man who held fast to the principles of his life; humility, trust, goodwill and iqtisad (taken from the Arabic word for Economy). He breathed his last in 1979.
